Testimonials for the ISOL Course for Interpreters

Here are comments by some of the participants.

The things we saw during this tailor made course for translators: a calf's entry to this world, fake Gucci bags, and the leaning tower of Pisa. The experience was varied, demanding, instructive, fun, pleasurable, interesting, fascinating, and typically Italian! I can enthusiastically and whole-heartedly recommend the school!

There is a language school in the port city of Livorno that offers a course for interpreters developed by the school director in consultation with the participants. The course is professionally prepared and taught in a cordial atmosphere and is complemented by the option of hospitality in a helpful and welcoming family. The school, though small, is flexible and allows the development of personalized courses that are tailored to specific needs. Everything to make learning Italian enjoyable can be found in a limited area: lots of friendly people willing to talk about their work and lives, culture at Pisa and Lucca, the beaches near Livorno, the often beautiful weather and the ever good cuisine. The course is managed by the director, Lisa Ceccherini, with great personal commitment and good humor so that everyone feels at ease! Definitely recommended.

I have done two courses at Agorà and am intending to return to Livorno this summer. It is an ideal town for a language course: not too big and not too many tourists. The school is set right in the center of the town on a typical Italian piazza and coffee breaks are taken in the café downstairs with all the locals. The staff are very flexible and will put together tailor-made courses to deliver exactly what you want. I can highly recommend Agorà!

Lost the thread of happenings in Italy today and need a booster shot? Mastered the language but still lacking background on politics and culture? This could be just the course for you: tailored by the director of the school, herself an enthusiastic linguist, to meet the wishes of conference interpreters. In-depth lectures by high-caliber speakers are matched by excursions around town and further afield. Beware, the course lives up to its name as intensive! But if you need a shot of Italy, this is highly recommended. Get a few colleagues together and go for it!
